My very first blog....
Believe it or not, I have never written or even read a blog before Laura's great idea! I love the idea too. It's so good to hear from all of you and find out what's going on in your worlds. Annie, congrats on the Young Adult job. I'm sure it will slide you into a great full time job in no time.
To give an update, Eric and I are moving out of L.A. tomorrow and heading down to Orange County where Eric will start his prosthetic program. Little did we know that to have allegiances to L.A. and Orange is considered a sin around here, but oh well. It's been a very relaxing summer, but I am ready to enter into reality again and start prepping for my school year. Like Laura, I experienced constant red tape in the O.C. public schools so I landed a job in a private schools near our apartment. I'm really excited about the school and staff (they all are actually real people!) and the curriculum is nearly identical to the public schools so that will give me a great warm up. In all honesty though, I don't want to teach rich white kids again. But like my mom says, maybe I'm suppose to be with these bratty kids so that they won't become bratty adults. But enough serious career stuff, I though you'd all enjoy a top ten changes in my life since becoming a California girl. So here they are!
1. I put on a sweater at night becuase 65 is a bit "too chilly" for me.
2. I try really hard not to stare into every black SUV hoping to sneak a peak at some super-star.
3. I'm a surfer's widow as Eric wakes up to go catch some waves too early even for me.
4. After much reading and talking with friends, we've gone to a totally organic diet. Yummy, healthy, but a bit tight on the budget.
5. Unlike at I.U., I confidently walk across any street knowing all will stop just for me!
6. I wear super big sunglasses now.
7. Brandy's a bit embarrassed that she's one of only a few dogs in our apartment complex that doesn't travel in my purse.
8. Friends mock my "accent" but I still don't notice what's so funny.
9. I talked to my mom (who is newly retired) at least twice a week.
10. Get this, Eric will stay at home studying and reading while I go take karate classes this fall. Crazy reversal huh!

I miss you all so much and hope all is well. Like I said, Eric and I are moving soon so I don't know when we'll get our internet up and running. But I definetely will keep in touch.
