To answer Laura's question: I don't know what I want to do for my birthday, but I definitely know what's on the top of my wishlist this year!

hey girls!!

i thought i would be the first to tell you...i have a new baby sister!!

Her name is Tidbit, my mom got a dog!!! Im so excited! I have no idea why I am this excited, but I am. She has been talking about it for a little while. I think its great for her, she has not had an easy time without my sister or I to take care of. My dad is not thrilled to say the least. But, as the old saying goes, when momma aint happy, aint nobody happy. I tried to convince him is would make his life so much better! haha.

she got from a rescue pet organization. its a 4 yr old, 8lb maltese, hypoallergenic (perfect for her dorky eldest daughter), and house trained. FOR FREE! my mom wanted to get a dog from a shelter, but thought it might be hard to find a dog to fit all of their unique requirements. so this dog is perfect to sit in her lap as she travels across the country in her diesel Ford truck of luxury;) haha! so i am ecstatic!

stephanie, i hope your move is going well! where is your school and what grade will you be teaching? it will be interesting to compare and contrast teaching in southern CA to southern IN!!

annie, we all wish you loads of luck on your interviews!!

molly, are you feeling older as you near the big "24"?;) where are we gonna celebrate your b-day?

talk to you all soon! love ya!

Good News!

Just letting everyone know that I have two phone interviews coming up this week. One with a library in Grand Junction, Colorado on tuesday and one with a library in Rock Springs, Wyoming on wednesday. The Grand Junction job is an entry level job, adult/young adult position. The Rock Springs is kind of an assistant director's job. I didn't expect to get a call about this one... It's a lot of responsibility, but I think I could do it. Anyway..if your guys would pray that these go well that would be wonderful! I'll post later in the week and let you know how they go. Love you all! ~Annie

Ladies of 205

The revenge of Candice......
Uh, hello.....I was a lady of 205 too! Where was my invite?! If it wasn't for me 205 would have never stayed clean and quiet! Well just an update Steven and I are madly in love as I do his laundry every day. Just thought you'd like to know.
:) Sorry, I couln't resist...stephanie

My very first blog....
Believe it or not, I have never written or even read a blog before Laura's great idea! I love the idea too. It's so good to hear from all of you and find out what's going on in your worlds. Annie, congrats on the Young Adult job. I'm sure it will slide you into a great full time job in no time.
To give an update, Eric and I are moving out of L.A. tomorrow and heading down to Orange County where Eric will start his prosthetic program. Little did we know that to have allegiances to L.A. and Orange is considered a sin around here, but oh well. It's been a very relaxing summer, but I am ready to enter into reality again and start prepping for my school year. Like Laura, I experienced constant red tape in the O.C. public schools so I landed a job in a private schools near our apartment. I'm really excited about the school and staff (they all are actually real people!) and the curriculum is nearly identical to the public schools so that will give me a great warm up. In all honesty though, I don't want to teach rich white kids again. But like my mom says, maybe I'm suppose to be with these bratty kids so that they won't become bratty adults. But enough serious career stuff, I though you'd all enjoy a top ten changes in my life since becoming a California girl. So here they are!
1. I put on a sweater at night becuase 65 is a bit "too chilly" for me.
2. I try really hard not to stare into every black SUV hoping to sneak a peak at some super-star.
3. I'm a surfer's widow as Eric wakes up to go catch some waves too early even for me.
4. After much reading and talking with friends, we've gone to a totally organic diet. Yummy, healthy, but a bit tight on the budget.
5. Unlike at I.U., I confidently walk across any street knowing all will stop just for me!
6. I wear super big sunglasses now.
7. Brandy's a bit embarrassed that she's one of only a few dogs in our apartment complex that doesn't travel in my purse.
8. Friends mock my "accent" but I still don't notice what's so funny.
9. I talked to my mom (who is newly retired) at least twice a week.
10. Get this, Eric will stay at home studying and reading while I go take karate classes this fall. Crazy reversal huh!

I miss you all so much and hope all is well. Like I said, Eric and I are moving soon so I don't know when we'll get our internet up and running. But I definetely will keep in touch.

Love this Idea!

Just checking in, letting everyone know that I think this is a wonderful idea! Of course I'm already a fan of the blog thing...so it fits for me.

In case you don't know I got a part-time job as the Young Adult Assistant at the library at home: www.ohio.lib.in.us So I'm working 20 hours a week or so..and probably going to be volunteering on the side a little too. So this should definately help me get more experience and hopefully land a full-time job somewhere...that's the goal anyway!

Anyway..hope you all are well tonight! Hugs and Love ~Annie

Top 10 Things I Miss About Bloomington:

10) Spending the summer being a townie, going to the pool at Bryan Park and not having to deal with the traffic!

9) Watching Friends every Thursday night with good friends.

8) In college, it's ok to sleep until 10 AM, in real life, not so much.

7) Avers breadsticks with ranch sauce, and the fact that they were open until 2 am.

6) How beautiful campus looked for two weeks each April

5) Eating lunch at "our table" in the Union, both Sophomore and Senior years.

4) Singing along with Dave and Rae at the Bird, playing Sink the Biz at Nick's and then going out to breakfast to talk about it all the next morning.

3) Rent was only $244 a month!

2) Step classes at the SRSC. Seriously, I think that Bloomington is stuck in some 80's aerobics time warp because I can't find a single step class in all of Chicago!

1) My good friends and roommates: Annie, Cara, Stephanie, Katie and Laura. I miss you guys!

Molly

Hello Ladies!

So Molly had this idea awhile ago, that we have a blank book of sorts that we would each write in and tell each other whats going on in our lives as a way to keep in touch. Its a great idea. But let's be honest, I am too busy/lazy/not motivated enough to routinely mail the book to the next person on the list. We've all grown up...but I probably wont reach that maturity level until I am retired. haha!

I suggest however, we use something we are all comfortable with, and that is the world wide web. Even on my CRAZIEST days, when security has been called in 5 times to my room, and grades are due at the end of the week, and the test is not written and I have no plans even concieved for the review...i still have time to check my email/facebook/craigslist/insert waste of time website here!

I have not kept in touch with you all as much as I would have liked. So i think this is a great way for all of us to reconnect and keep in better contact. I think of each one of you often and remember fondly our lovely, and HUGE college apartment at 1616 S Henderson Apt 205.

So to get this party started, ill post. I have spent the summer in between Chicago and Detroit. I have taught summer school, which has pretty much sucked, until every other friday when I get my paycheck and remember why I signed up to teach it this summer. However, I have complained every day for the last 7 weeks about teaching in an un airconditioned building when everyone in my classroom, ECSPECIALLY me, would rather be spending our summer break anywhere other than learning about World Studies. But, thank goodness, the end is in sight, and my torture ends Thursday.

I am back at Englewood, for better or worse. Finding a job in Detroit, was just not going to happen for this fall. And, if I cant be in Detroit with Julian, I definetely want to be at Englewood in Chicago. Long distance wont be easy, but we've done it before, and minus the 60,000 miles I have on my 3 yr old car, it hasnt been all that bad. There are definetely benefits as well, he gets to live a year on his own, and become accustomed to his work just as I had a year to do that myself. I also get to be at my first school for 2 years, and I am "off the hook" excited to see how much better I am the second time around!

So I will close now. I cant wait to hear from all of you and see whats going on, and heres to hoping we can all reminisce about 205, and share the events of the grown up world together.

Love,

Laura
